Disrupted Sleep

Poor sleep can be a major red flag. It may be that you are experiencing depression or even anxiety. If you find that you have a hard time falling asleep or if you are finding it difficult to stay asleep then this could be a major sign that you are experiencing mental health issues. On the flip side, oversleeping can easily be a sign as well. It may be that your body is fatigued to the point where you are completely burnt out. If this is the case then you need to try and make a positive change for yourself. You need to try and get to the root of the issue, and you also need to make sure that you are doing what you can to turn your situation around.

Irritability

If you experience irritation or if you feel snappy and easily annoyed, then this could be a sign that something is out of whack. Depression and anxiety can make it very difficult for you to regulate your thoughts as well as your feelings. It could be why you are far more reactive or even more sensitive than usual, and this is not good for your mental health. The only way for you to deal with issues like this is for you to deal with them head-on.

Loss of Joy

It’s very normal for you to have a bad day from time to time. Life is bound to make you feel sadness at some point. That being said, if you routinely find less happiness or even enjoyment in activities that you once loved then this could be a major sign that something is wrong. It may be that you once loved golfing, but now can’t bring yourself to pick up your clubs, for example. If you are turning to medication to self-soothe your depression, then consider going to a benzodiazepine detox center.

Major Change in Appetite

There are a huge number of ways that depression and anxiety can affect your appetite. For some people, when they are stressed, they find food a source of comfort. For others, they may not feel hungry at all. Either way, if you binge eat then you may find that it gives you the urge to eat more and this will work against your physical health. If you want to try and combat this issue then you need to take the time to focus more on your mental health going forward, so you can make the right changes.
