One of the best things that you can do for your well-being is to spend time outdoors. Getting time outside is important as it helps you get exercise and get some fresh air and sunshine which are critical to your health. But spending a lot of time outdoors in the sun can also be harmful, particularly during the summer months when the sun is often beaming down harshly. If you aren’t taking the right steps to protect yourself, you could regret it. Here are three things that you should do when you spend a lot of time in the sun.

Wear Sunglasses

The first thing that you should do when you spend a lot of time in the sun is to wear sunglasses. Your eyes are just as vulnerable to the harsh damage of the sun's UV rays as any other part of your body. If you spend a lot of time outdoors your eyes can quickly take on a lot of sun damage, contributing to vision loss, cataract development, and other painful and damaging eye diseases. Wearing high-quality sunglasses which can filter out the harmful rays of the sun is important for keeping your eyes healthy in the sun.

Care for Your Skin

Another critical step to take when you spend lots of time in the sun is to care for your skin. One of the leading causes of skin damage across the globe is over-exposure to the sun’s rays. This over-exposure can cause serious issues down the line like skin cancer but can also contribute to short-term issues like dry, itching, and flaking skin. Moisturizing your skin is especially important when you’re exposed to the sun. Moisturizing can help keep your skin hydrated and healthy to protect you as best as possible.

Stay Hydrated

The final thing that you must do when you spend a lot of items in the sun is to stay properly hydrated. When you are out in the sun, you are bound to get hot. This can cause you to sweat more than you are used to, and this can lead quickly to dehydration. If you are planning to spend a great deal of time in the sun you should bring a water bottle with you so that you can stay hydrated.

Getting too much sun can of course be bad for your health, but getting outside and soaking up the rays can also do wonders if done right. Make sure that you are taking these three steps to stay protected while enjoying your time in the sun.
