How to Put Self Love Into Action

Some people perceive self-love as a purely selfish pursuit, but that isn’t always the case. According to psychologists, putting self-love into action is the foundation for self-esteem. In a 2021 UK study, 85% of women admitted to feeling unattractive, which ultimately leads to low self-love and self-esteem issues. The study also stated that young people constantly deny themselves self-love. Therefore, if you find yourself in this group, find out how to turn self-love from lip service into action.

Don't compare yourself to others. Be the best YOU that you can be and that IS enough!

Avoid comparing yourself to others

One of the worst things to do in life is to compare yourself to others continually. That’s because everyone has their path to follow. And apart from it being a harmful and unhealthy habit, it is a recipe for self-loathing. Instead of focusing all your attention on what’s not working for you, do the reverse. Be thankful for the things you have and instead strive to work harder and smarter for what you wish to have. Learning to live with imperfection is vital to your existence as a person. Additionally, knowing that nobody is perfect is a great place to start from.

Reward yourself when needed

As a busy person desiring to reward yourself, you should first have a healthy work-life balance. According to experts, an excellent work-life balance makes you appreciate both sides of the divide. Again, a self-reward system makes you look forward to achieving success and creating an even more significant impact than before. You can do to reward yourself by spending time at the day spa or buying yourself an air ticket to an exotic place.

Even better, reward yourself with something tangible like a traditional diamond Claddagh ring as a reminder of how valuable you are if your finances will allow it. Do not forget that in rewarding yourself, only do the things you can afford and not end up blowing your budget. Indeed, sometimes, the best rewards have no monetary value, and this can be spending a weekend resting without anything to worry about (at least for the period in question).

be committed

Commit to doing things you love

If you know what your hobbies and interests are, why aren’t you doing them? Admittedly, life’s pressures can get in the way of committing time to the things that give you joy. However, the trick to doing them frequently is to make time for each one. Even if it means scheduling your hobbies, go right ahead. Furthermore, spend more time recuperating from stress and tense situations.

Indeed, anything that feeds your soul and brings positivity is what you should invest in. The happier you feel, the more confidence you have, and that builds self-love. That is not to say you should throw caution to the wind and splurge your last life’s savings on things that make you happy. Lastly, self-love activities should not be a one-off thing. Instead, always practice it until it becomes a part of you, and you will be glad you did.
