Digestion Issues

The first sign that you should be eating more vegetables in your diet is digestion issues. If you struggle with constipation, IBS, or other general digestive discomfort and issues, it may not be chronic, it may simply be your diet. Plant fiber is an essential food for your digestive health, feeding the bacteria and organisms in your digestive tract that assist with digestion, immune health, and even mental functioning. If you notice digestive issues creeping up, it could be your body telling you to eat some more veggies.

Acid Reflux and Heartburn

Another very common sign that you need more vegetables in your diet is prevalent acid reflux and heartburn. Acid reflux and heartburn result from stomach acid levels that are above normal, leading to acid reaching your esophagus. One great way to combat acid reflux is finding ways to reduce the acid in your stomach. Vegetables are naturally alkaline and can counteract acidity. If you are experiencing frequent bouts of acid reflux and heartburn, by adding a few more vegetables to your diet every day, you can alleviate your symptoms and prevent further flare-ups. Next time you are suffering from acid reflux, try having a serving of veggies and see if it helps you.

Low Energy

The final sign that you may need more vegetables in your diet is low energy. While low energy doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the veggies that are missing, it may mean that you aren’t getting enough vitamins and minerals, or antioxidants, to properly fuel your body with the micronutrients it needs. Vegetables are an incredible source of vitamins and minerals, as well as being full of antioxidants that can make a major impact on your overall energy and health.

Your diet plays a huge role in how your body performs. So, you should be looking at your body for signs that you need to eat more veggies. If you are dealing with any of these three signs, you should try to eat some more vegetables in your diet.
